Philosophy: Transfiguration’s philosophy of athletics and recreation is one of invitation and participation. We encourage everyone who wishes to use our Parish Center and participate fully. We do not have any team play that requires making cuts or limiting the participation of many in favor of the few. We recognize the competitive world our young people are raised in and we believe that Transfiguration must be a place for kids to play and families to recreate. | |||||||||||||||||||

Pope Paul VI said: "Sports well understood and practiced …. contribute to the development of the whole person because it demands generous It is with great pleasure that the basketball committee has united to provide constructive opportunities that lead to positive youth development through CYO Athletic Services. It will be our mission to provide a program that emphasizes the proper ideas of ethical conduct and sportsmanship. We want to offer all children in the parish the opportunity to develop their spiritual, emotional, and physical well being as a team player. We will emphasize that an athletic event is "just a game" and will provide coaches and adult role models who will instill the proper respect, courtesy, and leadership that our young people need and deserve. In return we expect respectful, courteous, children who will represent well our parish to others and provide for others by their community service hours and outreach opportunities. Together, the basketball committee, young Transfiguration players, and all our generous volunteers will work together to build a program we are proud of and is worthy of the Church of the Transfiguration name!!!
CYO Season for 2007-08 Watch the bulletin and the here on the website for information for the 2007-2008 CYO basketball sign up, which will take place on the weekends of October 13-14 & 20-21. Transfiguration has a terrific program for youth in grades 3 through 12 for boys and girls. Our philosophy is to learn the game, teamwork, sportsmanship, as well as have fun. There are no cuts as everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy being involved. The 3rd and 4th grade program is an instructional, intramural program where boys and girls play together. Grades 5-12 have teams which play other parishes from around the county. The formal competitive season begins in November and ends in February. We will be interested in having coaches, managers, team parents and volunteers to work with the young people as well as the administrative end of the program. We are in need for volunteers at all levels to ensure that we will have teams for this season. We need coaches for 7/8 grade girls, 5/6 grade boys, and at the 3/4 grade levels. Please contact Jim Wright or Roger Brandt if you can coach or be a parent helper for any of our teams.
