Lent and Easter Activities

The Living Stations of the Cross

This production is a moving portrayal of the Stations of the Cross  that present the passion of our Lord.  This event reminds us of the Lord’s passion, death, and resurrection in images that are real and tangible.  This event is for all parish families and friends, and is always well attended.  Please come and witness the re-enactment of the Passion of Christ as performed by the youth of our parish. The Living Stations of the Cross is such a powerful spiritual experience. In previous portrayals, the audience and participants have been moved to tears.

It is presented by our youth grades 7 through 12. There are no speaking parts. Everyone participates. It is a beautiful way to honor Jesus this Easter Season. We are also looking for singers. If you would like to participate please call Mrs. Piles at 690-0290 or e-mail me at mopiles@rochester.rr.com.

Come and join us for this very special parish-wide event!

Psanky Ukrainian Easter Egg Family Activity

Come and learn to create an authentic Ukrainian Easter Egg (“psanky”)! This activity is great for creativity, fun, and learning centered around the Easter Season.  This craft involves the use of a candle.  Please do not bring children below the age of three.  Parents of small children are encouraged to come alone, then go home to teach their own children one-on-one.

Ukrainian Easter Eggs (pysanky) are the most ancient and most beautiful decorated eggs in the world.  Bring your family to watch a demonstration of how these eggs are made by egg artist Lisa Cooney (www.CreatingPysanky.com), then try your hand using some of the traditional tools and symbols on your own eggs.  Learn the basic principles of wax-resist that will enable you to make lovely multicolored eggs.

There is a fee which is determined annually.  Each family will receive a simple kit to take home that includes non-toxic dyes, kistka (the tool for applying wax), beeswax, and more. Families should bring a dozen hard boiled eggs.  You may bring empty, blown eggs to decorate.  No raw eggs, please!
