Search Weekend

"Search" is a weekend retreat for teens held at the Rotary Sunshine Camp in Rush. It's a community building experience, with opportunities for individuals to reach out, touch, grow, and become new persons in Jesus Christ... all while growing closer to others who share this experience. It is a weekend to make friends, to strengthen friendships and to examine and strengthen your relationship with Christ. It is a weekend full of fun, prayer, laughter, tears and lots of great food. It is a time to find yourself. It is a time to reflect, repent and rejoice. The planned activities help you grow as an individual and as a team member. It is usually attended by 80 to 100 high school teens, freshmen through seniors.

It’s a fast moving weekend that requires total involvement from each and every person. There are serious times, as well as fun events with games and activities. It is truly the greatest weekend of the year for our teens.

All high school students from all schools from all churches are invited. Registrations are available in the church foyer or in the Destiny Room. PLEASE. Bring a friend or come alone and make a friend. This will be the best weekend of the year!  Ask the teens who have attended. We are always looking for adult volunteers to lead our teens, work in the kitchen or being an extra set of eyes by coming down in the evening and spending the night in the cabins with the teens.

Search ‘08: Do You Believe In Magic?

Over the weekend of March 7th, 8th and 9th a group of 50 awesome high school teens and 7 adult group leaders (Grammy Nettie, Mary Jo Brandt, Rob Matthews, Ken Diehl, and our 3 new leaders: Alyn Vespucci, Eric Bessett, and Mike Stachura) made a 3 day faith journey of exploration, reflection, and discovery.  It’s almost impossible to put into words the impact the weekend has on all of the participants. You may be able to get a flavor of the weekend from the following evaluation comments:

Our hope is that the “Search High” will not only be experienced by those who participated in the weekend; but will be felt by all those who encounter us daily. Seek out those who attended and let them tell you first hand about the weekend.

In addition, a very special thank you to our wonderful kitchen crew led by Patti Martin and Denise Nunziato. We would also like to thank those who made monetary and food donations.
