Youth Ministry

 

Our children are the future of our church.  For those of us who minister to our youth, they are the number one priority. From our weekly Christian Formation classes (kindergarten through 8th grade) to the sacrament of confirmation; and right through high school, our mission is to spiritually feed our youth and bring the word of the Lord into their lives through education, service and social activities.

CYO basketball is an excellent program for ALL kids to participate in. It is not about winning. It’s about playing and growing and working together as a team. It’s about learning that winning isn’t everything. It’s about learning that all kids are equal. It’s about learning that all of us have strengths. It is about having FUN!

Baccalaureate Mass

Attention parents of seniors in High School. Our annual Baccalaureate celebration Mass for our teens is Sunday, June 15th at 9AM Mass. (Please note this is the first weekend of the Mass time changes). Please send their senior picture and 2 pictures from their childhood electronically to: webmaster@transfigurationpittsford.org

 no later than June 2nd. In order for us to put the slide show together with music, it is important that all pictures be in the office on time. All seniors from all schools are encouraged to participate. It is a beautiful tradition. If you have any questions, please call Mo Piles at 381-4919.

Our senior high school program is Destiny. Tuesday evenings during the school year, our teens gather to discuss things that affect their lives and learn how to cope and deal with these issues through support from other teens, adult leaders and most importantly the Lord. Destiny is a “safe place” for our teens to deal with teenage challenges.

 There is a yearly retreat “Search”, attended by 80-100 teens where they gain a deeper understanding of the presence of the Lord in their lives through activities and sharing with other teens and adult leaders.

During the summer, high school juniors and seniors can participate in a week long trip to rural Maine to work among those less fortunate; building and repairing homes and relationships.

Our summer Vacation Bible School is an incredible program for pre-schoolers through 8th grade led by wonderful adults and Vacation Bible School alumni, our high school teens. This program teaches our faith through music, games, and scripture.

Again, our youth are the future of our church. Our goal is to nourish them in their faith and help them understand that our Lord is the one constant in their life and that he is always with them and, that through faith, nothing is impossible.
