Men's Fellowship

Over the years, many of the men of Transfiguration Parish have developed a relationship with each other that is rooted in our common faith and our common call to serve our families and our God in the marketplace. As such, it has become natural for us to call one another "brother" – for that is what we are – brothers in Christ.  All men of the parish are welcome to attend the Fellowship – no dues, no rules – just a piece of faith the size of a mustard seed is all that is needed.

A Brief History

Men's Fellowship at Transfiguration began in 1990 when a small group of  men (about 6), talked about the growing need for men to come to terms with Church and spirituality in their lives.  As we gradually grew, our focus seemed to be on the issues of faith, family, finances, and our call to those arenas (thus our logo was established - God, Family, Work).

At present we have over 200 men signed up to be part of the fellowship.  “There are no dues and there are no rules”.  As we grew, it was decided that we should maintain our focus on spirituality, and not become merely a social club.  While socializing and fellowship is an important ingredient in who we are, our spirituality is based on our common journey of faith, as men of God.

Over the years, many of the men of Transfiguration Parish have developed a relationship with each other that is rooted in our common faith and our common call to serve our families and God in the marketplace.  As such, it has become natural for us to call one another "brother" - for that is what we are - brothers in Christ.

All men of the parish are welcome to join the fellowship - no dues, no rules - just a piece of faith the size of a mustard seed is all that is needed.

Men’s Parish Retreat at Notre Dame

Our annual Notre Dame Retreat Weekend is scheduled for the weekend of April 4-6, 2008.  We will be joining men of other parishes at Notre Dame’s location overlooking Lake Canandaigua.

A weekend at Notre Dame runs from Friday evening to Sunday noon.  There will be talks, reconciliation, morning and evening prayer, good meals, plenty of free time to walk on the beautiful grounds or chat with a friend.  Nothing is mandatory although it is highly suggested that you attend each piece for the full experience. In March 2007, 19 men went for the weekend, 17 of them were newcomers.  It was such a positive experience, approximately 50% have already committed for 2008!

“Men in the Spirit” Meetings

Once a month, sometimes every two months - the men of the fellowship gather for an evening of prayer and reflection on a talk given by one of our men or an invited guest, pre-ceded by some social time.  The gathering is meant to feed our spiritual life and renew friendships. Our current meeting format with offering a light snack of pizza, wings, and soda from 6:00-6:50 pm. has allowed all of us time for casual discussion to catch up on events.  The formal program starts promptly at 7:00 and ends by 9:00 pm. We are continuing with this plan for our 2008 meetings.  Usually, we have tried to schedule MIS nights for the third Monday of the month.

The formal program starts promptly at 7:00 and ends by 9:00 pm. “Why not consider bringing another parish member with you to acquaint them with our program?” We are all “Called by Name” to the Fellowship and we each need to do our part by calling others by name as well!

Upcoming Meetings

April 21: Dr. Dennis Boike will be our key note speaker on Monday, April 21st in the Education Building. All men in of the parish are welcome. Pizza and Wings at 6:00pm and at 7:00 pm Dr. Boike will Be discussing "Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda", the New Midlife Anxiety for Males. Coming to grips with the roads not taken and how to create a life with few regrets. Please join us for what will be a most interesting presentation!
