Contemporary Music Mass

To add to the our various expressions of sung prayer at our liturgies which include hymns, psalms, songs, Taize chant, choral anthems, and antiphonal responses, we have introduced a mass with Contemporary Christian Music as a tool of sung worship.

Contemporary music encompasses a variety of musical genres including rock, jazz, pop, reggae, and the blues. Any of these styles  may provide the "feel" for music at a Contemporary Music Mass.

Matthew 17 during How Can We Keep From Singing,
part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration

On every other Sunday at the 11:30AM mass or the 11:00AM mass in the summer, you will notice the addition of a set of drums and amplified guitars which support this type of music.

Contemporary Christian Music tends to use music as a tool for direct praise, with simple prayerful refrains accompanied by a good solid beat.  Not all of the songs are upbeat.  Some are just simple, easy to sing, meaningful songs with prayerful texts.  Please check the bulletin or here on the website as circumstances may necessitate changing the contemporary music schedule from the current every other Sunday at 11:30AM (or 11:00AM in the summer).
