Hospitality and Pastoral Care

"Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing so some people have entertained angels without knowing it."

As Christians we are called to be hospitable by demonstrating love for each other.  It is a way of living our lives that is central to the spiritual life and affects all our relationships.  Christian hospitality begins with worship and gratitude to God for all the good that has been bestowed upon us.  It is in this context of hospitality that we come to appreciate the unconditional love God has for us in and through Jesus Christ.   From its founding, the Church of the Transfiguration has extended a warm, welcoming spirit to all who enter through its doors.  “Lord, how good it is for us to be here.” 

As a vibrant and compassionate Christian community, we endorse the biblical directive to care for one another in times of crisis and in everyday life.  We strive to ensure that our parishioners know they are loved, visitors know they are welcome, and young and old alike know they are valued.

‘… for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me…truly, I say to you, as you did it to the least of my brethren, you did it to me.’
