Healthy Sisters’ Soup and Breadworks: A Healthy Meal for You…A Healthy Beginning for Others. Through this innovative program at Catholic Family Center’s Restart Department, women that are recovering from substance abuse earn a steady paycheck in a safe and nurturing environment and develop the self-confidence and job skills needed to enter or reenter the workforce. Women learn first to come to work then to grow with others in a team, to take pride in their efforts, to learn initiative, and confidence. The experience is a powerful boost to a woman’s belief in her own ability to support herself and her children. The community of women who work at HSSBW supports each other through many changes and difficulties. Coming to work can be one place where a woman feels productive and capable. As lives change, skill builds and the feeling of competence spreads through their lives. One of the principles of Catholic Social teaching reminds us of the dignity of work and rights of workers. Work is more than a way to make a living: it is a form of continuing participation in God’s creation and work can restore human dignity. Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.
