How We Help Sister Parishes

  • We exchange correspondence and provide spiritual support to each other.

  • We also provide financial support to their efforts in building the infrastructure to house their communities including Church and School buildings.

  • We encourage a sharing of Christian symbols reflecting our Catholicism but also the cultural identity of each locale.

  • We particularly encourage our children’s participation in these educational and cultural exchanges.

Volunteer to assist in coordinating and planning of Mission Sunday held each year in June.  Participate in supporting our Sister parishes St. Bernard's in Ghana and Transfiguration in Russia.

  • The Sister Parish Committee keeps in contact with our sister parishes of St. Bernard’s in Ghana and New Orleans

  • They sponsor a yearly weekend during which a collection is taken to help support these parishes.

To date, our parish has helped to build the Church and part of the school in Ghana.  In the past we have provided chairs and a new roof for the building in Russia prior to finalizing the connection when the Russian government began to provide the same aid as our program.  Also, our parishioner, Ron Maguire, has made chalices for both parishes.
