Benincasa (Hospice Care): Benincasa is a comfort home that follows Hospice structure offering care, comfort and support for those in their last days. We assist family members as well in offering a caring, nurturing atmosphere. Volunteers work in preparing meals and sorting/distributing clothing. BirthRight: Provides counseling and referral assistance in support of pregnant women and their babies through pregnancy and delivery. Coordinator: Joan Lienhardt 381-6248 or jbl@frontiernet.net CASA (Court Appt Special Advocate): Court Appointed Special Advocate’s mission is to train and supervise a diverse group of volunteers to advocate for children who have been abused and/or neglected. The children are at risk of being removed, or have been removed, from their homes. Our goal is a safe, permanent home for children as soon as possible. CASA becomes involved with a case is by appointment from a Family Court judge. Coordinator: Pat Slimmer 586-2537 or casarny@aol.com Eastern Service Workers Coordinator: Connie Wahl 582-1753 or conniewahl@juno.com Elderberry Express: Elderberry Express is a senior (55 years and older) citizens transportation service for Pittsford residents and residents at 81 Linden Knoll in Brighton. All our volunteer drivers handle any valid senior activity. Service is free but donations are accepted. The service operates Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gil Landry 248-6237 Employment Network: The Employment Network is a support system with pragmatic programs for individuals who are facing employment changes, questions or decisions. The network is a ministry formed through the collaboration of members from three catholic parishes, The Church of the Transfiguration, St. Louis Church and Saint Catherine of Siena, which are located southeast of Rochester, NY. Habitat for Humanity: Flower City Habitat for Humanity builds 9 to 11 homes per year. Various organizations sponsor houses by providing a combination of direct funding, in-kind donations of materials and services. Coordinator: Kathleen Rogers 383-0387 or krogers@rochesterhabitat.org Jesuit Volunteer Corps John Blanton 381-9713 or jblanton@sjfc.edu Mercy Outreach Center: A Sisters of Mercy neighborhood community program providing health care, dental care and prescription services for uninsured families. Physicians, dentists, nurses, social worker and reception volunteers are needed for the continual success of this program. Coordinator: Penny Gardner 288-2634 or pjgmoc@rochester.rr.com Pittsford Food Cupboard: The Pittsford Food Cupboard is a community effort to meet the emergency and supplemental needs of any individual or family within a designated area by providing food items in a caring and non-judgmental environment (phone: 264-9860).
