Hunger and Poverty

Catholic Charities USA: This national membership organization is one of the nation’s largest social services networks. These agencies provide vital services to people in need, regardless of their religious, social, or economic backgrounds.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development: This domestic anti-poverty, social justice program of the U.S. Catholic bishops’ addresses the root causes of poverty in the U.S.

Poverty USA: This site has information on how to educate, advocate and participate to end domestic poverty.

Catholic Relief Services: This relief and development agency of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, works in over eighty countries to alleviate poverty, hunger and suffering, reaching out to people in more than 94 countries and territories around the world to promote peace and justice for the poor and oppressed.

Glenmary Home Missioners: This Catholic society of priests, brothers, and Glenmary Home Mission Sister is dedicated to serving the spiritual and material needs of the people throughout Appalachia and the rural South and Southwest.

Peace and Nonviolence

Pax Christi USA: This is a national Catholic peace organization that seeks to create a peaceful world through witnessing to the call of Christian nonviolence.

Legislative Action and Advocacy

Network: This organization founded by Catholic Religious Women was created to educate, lobby and organize to influence federal legislation that affects the common good, with particular concern for people who are poor, and offer a vision toward social justice. This organization offers comprehensive and current background information on the issues and suggests comments that may be included in communications to representatives.

Retreat Opportunities & Camps

Camp Koinonia is located in the Finger Lakes area and is a beautiful setting to host retreats.  Each year the Camp holds 3 weeks of "Family Camp" where families participate in a variety of fun faith filled activities each day that are highlighted with a daily mass.  (Another great benefit is that all the meals are prepared for you during your stay!)  Camp Koinonia is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide a camp environment for family and personal renewal.
