Our parish was built on the foundation that our community would be based on our relationship with Jesus, with each other and offering hospitality to all who come through our doors. We welcome each other, we serve one another and we share our joys as well as our sufferings as a parish family. This was the beginning of our time and talent in service to each other.
As the years have gone by, we continue this tradition in the name of Jesus by continually offering our hearts, our hands and ourselves to serve those within our parish family and those in need locally, nationally and internationally. Our ministry list has grown to over a hundred opportunities to work with each other in sharing our gifts through service, spirituality and fellowship. You have been very generous with your gifts of time, share of talent and your treasure.
In that name of tradition, our Stewardship Committee has been working diligently to bring a reminder of our baptismal call to the forefront. God has called you and me in one way or another, to use the gifts he has entrusted to us. The Church of the Transfiguration is not just Fr. Mike’s church or the Deacon’s church or my church. Nor is it just stone, brick, carpet and wood—it is our faith community, it is our parish family. Each of us has ownership in this family and we hope a sense of belonging. The name “Transfiguration” means new life, new birth and new beginnings. We hope you find, as I have, this to be a place of rest in a highly competitive world, feeling spiritually nurtured when you leave with a sense of peace and direction.
Over the last few weeks, our bulletin and the website have noted a “Stewardship Corner”. This is offered as an update to Stewardship Committee details. We will also be implementing “Stewardship Sunday”, when once a month one of our ministries will be highlighted in the bulletin and on this website. You will also hear from a participant or recipient involved in that ministry and we encourage you to stop by the Gathering Area after Mass to find out more and talk with us about your needs or desire to help.
Celebrate the gifts God has so freely given you and appreciate the gifts in others. We are sure many of our parish families have touched your life in one way or another. Remember too, you have touched their lives as well. We excitedly look forward to strengthening our relationships with each other through our new Stewardship paradigm. Please take the time quietly to listen to the whisper of God, to hear where He may be calling you. Will you answer?
