Dear Friends,

We begin the season of Advent today and our Liturgy Committee selected Waiting in Joyful Hope as our theme for the season.  As we joyfully anticipate the coming Jesus and the Christmas season, I encourage you to take some extra time each day in prayer with God our Creator. Last Sunday I suggested the following Scripture reading to reflect on in your prayer.

  • The Infancy narratives found at the beginning of the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.
  • The first 18 verses of John’s Gospel, known as that Gospel’s prologue.
  • The hymns found in the letters of Paul, such as Philippians 2: 6-11 or Ephesians 1: 3-10 to see how the ancient church viewed Jesus.

Please do continue your faith journey in Joyful Hope.

It pleases me to introduce a new column to our Bulletin, entitled “The Finance Corner”.  The column will appear on a regular basis, but not weekly.  The author of the article will be the Finance Sub-Committee of the Building for the Future long term planning process.  The intent of the column is to share with you different ways you can financially support of the parish to the best advantage of both the parish and you.  The members of the Finance Sub-Committee are parishioners Diane Carroll-Yacoby, Mike Goonan and our Finance Director Maureen O’Connor.  Please take into serious consideration what they have to share and always feel free to contact any of them to offer your support or suggestions, thank you!  Finally, I extend my appreciation to the Committee for all their hard work and effort.

I recently received a new set of little stories entitled “Children Are Quick” so here is another story for your humor box:  Teacher: John, why are you doing your math multiplication on the floor?  John: You told me to do it without using tables.

Let us continue to pray for peace in our world!

In peace and courage,
