Ministry Fair, Where Do You Fit?
Next weekend, in the Parish Life Center, you will will have the opportunity to explore more than 90 ministries that have become the fabric of Transfiguration, offering hospitality to our neighbors and grace of serving to all involved. From serving at Mass in a variety of ministries to caring for our gardens to caring for the homeless to teaching children and the list goes on and on of the many ministries we offer as a parish.
'Throughout the Scriptures, we are reminded to be of service to one another by sharing our God given gifts. Being "good stewards' is central to who we are as a people of God. The Ministry Fair is not only a great opportunity to learn about the parish’s various service opportunities, but also to consider where God may be calling you. Be open to the possibilities that only God knows reside in your heart through the gifts that you have been given.
Please plan on accepting the invitation to join us after all Masses next weekend. In the PLC. The Ministry Fair is complete with cheese and crackers on Saturday, and breakfast pizza on Sunday. Bring the whole family, and meet others who share your gift of faith.
I suggest you give some reflection and prayer to how you can share your gifts more fully as you prepare to stop by the Ministry Fair. There used to be a furniture store in Elmira that invited people to “come poke in the corners and be amazed what you may find”. I extend the same sentiment to come poke in the corners at the Ministry Fair, you will be amazed at all the ministries we offer. See you at the Fair!
The Catholic Ministry Appeal is off and running; our goal this year is $200,339. Last year our goal was $195,712 and we raised $199,987, the goal we have this year is reachable. We can only reach our goal if everyone steps up and makes a pledge. Our goal increased by a 2.2%, so I am asking you to consider increasing your pledge by the 2.2% and if you have never pledged please consider starting with a pledge that fits your financial ability. It is very important, as pointed out in the mailings you have received, that we support the Diocese.. We depend upon the Diocese for many services and they provide guidance to us in many situations.
Let us continue to pray for peace and for the end of terrorism in our world!
In peace and courage,
