Nearly 25 years ago, I was confirmed into the Catholic faith on the RIT campus. The mother of one of my piano students looked at me afterwards and said, “You can’t go there forever, you need a REAL church. Come to Transfiguration, see what you think.” Well, the rest as they say, is history. I remember standing at the doorway of the sanctuary listening to one of the choirs practice before Mass, saw the beautiful, open layout of the church (and lots of plants), and said to myself, “Yep - I’m home.” Since then, it has also been home to my husband and four children.

Since that time, I have been blessed and honored to have become the bell choir director and youth choir accompanist. Leading the music team of incredibly upbeat teens for our Vacation Bible School program fills my heart with such happiness and gratitude; they, together with the youth ringers and singers, are a vital part of our music ministry, and I am so thankful to work with them. I also love playing the piano at Mass…is there anything better than singing with your family? I don’t think so!

Our Bell Choir (grades 6-12) is always looking for new ringers! It is not a teaching choir; at least 3-4 years of music reading experience is required. Our Morningstar Youth Choir is open to singers in grades 3-8.
Both groups meet once a week, and ring/sing at one 9 am Mass per month as well as at Christmas and Easter.

Please let me know if you have any questions about either group - bring a friend and join the fun of sharing your musical gifts with our parish family!
