Dear Friends,
Every year the Catholic Family Center holds an annual Gala fundraiser, usually around St. Patrick’s Day. Each year there are one or two honorees designated to be recipients of the special award acknowledging their service to the community and the goals of the Catholic Family Center. Several years ago, the Parish and I received the Partners in Philanthropy Award. Last February the CFC Gala Committee designated the Palumbos Family (Fr. Ed, Marty and Maureen) would receive the same award. It was also announced that our very own parishioner Patty Lovallo would receive the Spirit of Hope Award. It is a great honor for all of them.

 Then COVID 19 happened!

The Gala was initially suspended as we learned of the impact of the pandemic upon the Gala. Then, after much conversation, the Gala was rescheduled for the fall when we assumed things would be under control and returning to normal. The plan was to address the situation in July to see where we stood at the time. That deadline came and went and, given the issues of safety and New York State Health Commission regulations. CFC has sadly had to cancel the event entirely for the sake of the common good.

The Annual CFC Gala is a major fundraiser for the Catholic Family Center and its ministries. The needs of the people they serve have not gone away or diminished in these days of pandemic. In fact, they have increased as more and more folks find themselves against the wall, struggling to survive and cope financially in the present situation. The good news is that by using technology, the CFC was able to develop a new plan for the Gala, of course relying on the generosity of friends, past attendees and donors.

That is why I bring this to you today. Soon some of you will be receiving communications from the Catholic Family Center. A media blitz will soon begin, and they will be using any means of getting the word out that they need support and assistance more then ever. CFC must continue the important work and ministry they have provided for over a 100 years. They are in the people business and people are hurting. You can help personally with a generous contribution! Please “make the case” with your family and friends!

I can think of no better way to honor the Palumbos family and our “very own” Patty Lovallo than by a generous show of support and participation in the work of compassion and care that the Catholic Family Center provides every day.

Here is a link to the powerful short video that was prepared for the Gala this year and a link to guide you how to give.

Please pass this message on to your friends and family, thank you!
Let us continue to pray for and take action to bring about peace in our world!
In peace and courage,
