Lord, how good it is for us to be here -- Matthew 17

Dear Friends,
Recently you should have received a letter asking for your support of this year’s Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA). As in the past, each of you have been asked to join together in the spirit of stewardship by making a financial commitment to the Church of Rochester. Your gifts to the CMA provide essential operating support for diocesan pro-grams that provide direct services to both this parish and thousands of people throughout the twelve counties that comprise our Diocese.

A successful Catholic Ministries Appeal is vital to the continued health of our parish and our local Church. As our parish and Diocese are one, comprising the Body of Christ, neither can exist without the other and both need your support. We can and do make a difference.
I am mindful of the ongoing support we receive from our coworkers in the diocesan offices that helps us on many levels.

  • They train our catechists and fix our computers.
  • They help us with our insurance, our pensions, and our human resource policies and procedures.
  • They assist us in taking care of the poor, the elderly, the troubled, the battered and the addicted through 10 regional Catholic Charities agencies.
  • They support youth retreats, CYO sports as well as jail, hospital and college chaplains.

This past year we have depended on the professional advice of Buildings and Properties Department as we prepare for major replacement and repair projects on our own parish campus. Advice that would have very costly if we depended on outside professional companies.
And the list goes on and on.

I am asking every family in our parish to join me in support of the Catholic Ministries Appeal. I would ask that you reflect upon my call for support and consider what contributing to this Appeal really means. In addition to the list above the CMA ensures continuous and essential training for all those who are called to ministry within our Diocese. It ensures that our church remains a vital, faith driven community.

I want to take this moment to thank you all for what you’ve done to help make our parish a vibrant faith community. Your presence and support are most appreciated.

A little blooper: “For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a baby sitting room in the Parish Life Center.”

Let us continue to pray for peace in our world!
In peace and courage,
