A couple of weeks ago I asked you to do a review of your individual mental, physical and spiritual health; and do the same with your family. I also addressed the health of our parish. Today I address one more important element of our lives as individuals, families and as a parish; OUR ATTITUDE!
Attitude is Everything!
You’ve heard it said “Attitude is everything!” right? Here’s a cute story that says it all:
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head. “Well,” she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today.” So she did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and saw that she had only two hairs on her head. “Hmmm,” she said, “I think I will part my hair down the middle today.” So she did and she had a grand day
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head. “Well,” she said, “today I’m going to wear my hair in a ponytail.” So she did and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn’t a single hair on her head. “Yea!” she exclaimed, “I don’t have to fix my hair today!”
Attitude is everything.
So, as you approach each day be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
- Live simply,
- Love generously,
- Care deeply,
- Speak kindly,
- Leave the rest to God.
An attitude of hospitality and welcome is a hallmark of Transfiguration’s reputation. I am introduced to many people in the course of week, at meetings, restaurants and social gatherings. It always gladdens my heart, once people are told I am the pastor of Transfiguration, when I receive a response complimenting the wonderful ATTITUDE of welcome and hospitality they have heard about or experienced firsthand here at the parish.
I fully recognize that some days we do not feel like being welcoming and hospitable, that is part of human nature; on those days we perhaps just need to ask God for a little help and at least smile. If we are on the receiving end we may need to just remind ourselves we have bad days too. In any case, Attitude is Everything! Keep trying our best, thanks!
Let us continue to pray for peace in our world!
In peace and courage,
