Lord, how good it is for us to be here -- Matthew 17

Teen Playlist God Calls You

This month we continue in the Easter Season and look forward to the feast of Pentecost.

On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came to rest on the disciples and empowered them to share the Good News of Jesus' love with the whole world.

We consider Pentecost to be the birthday of the Church.

Many of our teens are either preparing for or have recently celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The offerings below will help you reflect on how God calls you to let the Holy Spirit work through you.

Here's part of the story of Pentecost and the early Church:

                        Acts 2:1-4

                      Acts 2:43-47

You might also like to spend time this month reading the entire book of Acts of the Apostles, which tells the story of how the early Church grew after Jesus' Resurrection and Ascension into heaven.

Here are some more Scripture passages about how the Holy Spirit works in you and through you:

                       Romans 8:26-27

                       Micah 6:8

                       Luke 9:1-6

                       John 13:34-35

                       John 14:26

Galatians 5:22-23    (The Fruits of the Holy Spirit)

Isaiah 11:2-3 (The Gifts of the Holy Spirit)

Spend some time in prayer (just in your head or maybe writing/sketching in your journal) wondering:

  • The Holy Spirit works within us... when have you felt the voice of God in your heart?
  • The Holy Spirit works through us... when have you been moved to reach out to others and love them like Christ loves?
  • Where do you feel God is leading you or calling you to serve others?
  • What does it mean for you to be part of the Church?
  • If you have already celebrated your Confirmation, what did that experience mean to you?
  • If you are preparing to celebrate your Confirmation, what do you hope that experience will mean to you?
