Join us for Blessing of the Pets - St. Catherine
This Sunday we will celebrate Saint Francis’s love for all creation and particularly animals. After our 10:45 AM mass at St. Catherine’s . we will have a special blessing for our pets. Night without a Bed and Poverty Simulation - St. Catherine's While not everyone in our immediate community is financially stable, most of us and our neighbors are very comfortable. We have nice homes, comfortable beds, food on the table and a little extra at the end of the day. But that is not the case for many in our larger community. Many are unhoused, sleeping in cars, 'couch surfing' with family and friends. The process to get help is often daunting, time consuming and frustrating. On October 22, Karen Luke, Pastoral Associate at St. Catherine's, will be taking part in a program called 'Night without a Bed and Poverty Simulation'. This program is designed to have you walk in the shoes of our impoverished and unhoused neighbors, a great and humbling lesson for us and for our children. No Tricks, Just Treats October 29 and 30 at All Masses Wear orange or dress up for Mass as we start the spookiest time of the year. Halloween has a rich history, much of it religious, we will be taking this opportunity to combine fun and learning about values for our children. Ms. Vicky will be hosting a special children’s program during the liturgy of the word for all kids 4-7 years old. Sheriff David Friedlander of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department will join us with his new horse, Clyde. Mark Gilbride of Saint Catherine’s will join us with one of his alpaca’s named Camacho. They will be outside of St. Catherine’s church where we will invite you to join them with your pet picture and a special prayer/blessing.

This 4-week series will allow us to enter into a discussion regarding some of the difficulties that have emerged in the Cathodic tradition since the end of Vatican Council II. We will consider such topics as the Church's new openness to today's secular society, the decline in both clergy and membership, the child abuse scandal, and the emergence of conservative opposition to Church authority. On October 22, Karen Luke, Pastoral Associate at St. Catherine's, will be taking part in a program called 'Night without a Bed and Poverty Simulation'. This program is designed to have you walk in the shoes of our impoverished and unhoused neighbors, a great and humbling lesson for us and for our children. If you would like to participate, here are some options.
- Click HERE to join the program officially, and help raise money for the poor. You will be able to simulate applying for services from DHS, sleep at a place of your choosing that isn't your comfortable bed, and raise money for Family Promise of Greater Rochester.
- Just join Karen for an overnight 'sleep in your car' on October 22, starting at 9 p.m. in the St. Catherine parking lot.
- Contribute to St. Catherine's Night without a Bed's fundraiser for Family Promise of Greater Rochester HERE

October 29 and 30 at All Masses
Wear orange or dress up for Mass as we start the spookiest time of the year. Halloween has a rich history, much of it religious, we will be taking this opportunity to combine fun and learning about values for our children. Ms. Vicky will be hosting a special children’s program during the liturgy of the word for all kids 4-7 years old. After Mass all are invited to get a special treat in the gathering area and say hello to the Faith Formation team members.
