Dear Friends,

We go forth in continuing our Easter celebrations and sung Alleluias!

I hope you are finding time in each of these Easter days leading us to Pentecost moments to claim the graces and joys of this sacred season. Christ is alive and very much in our midst revealing His love and desire for us to be Him while we are blessed to walk among one another.

Unfortunately, this article had to be written and submitted before we actually experienced the eclipse.

I am holding my breath and saying a prayer that we have a good experience. It certainly is receiving lots of attention. Many folks living in our area are welcoming family and friends who are traveling to join us for the eclipse.

Whatever happens, may we have enjoyed those gathering with us, and made safe decisions if we were traveling on the roads. Stories to follow, I am sure!

I will be away next weekend preparing for the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15th. The marathon is always on the third Monday of April and it is a state holiday, Patriots Day, in Massachusetts.  For decades now, I have been volunteering at the race. People ask how did I get involved. Many, many years ago a friend asked several of us  if we would be interested in volunteering. We said yes. Today, there are a few of us who continue volunteering. Our “Team Captain”, Todd,  was just a young boy (my friend’s Sally and Jerry’s son) when we began. Now, he is our leader and mainstay.

When people hear I will be at the marathon, some look at me and say, “You run the race?”. I respond by telling them I cross the finish line every year! And I do! I am not running but walking over it. I am a volunteer at the finish line.

It has been a privilege all these years to be of assistance at this spectacular and highly prized location. To see the runners, in all shapes and forms cross the finish line is heart warming and moving to the spirit.

I am looking forward to this time with my friends, volunteer companions and thousands of people from all over the world!

Our Kentucky Women’s Retreat will be preparing to leave for Booneville April 13th. This is a soft beginning for the women after Covid. Let us pray for these stewards of the Lord’s love as they spend a week doing fabulous ministry!

I am sure when they return there will be stories of grace and joy to share. Perhaps, you might be interested in joining these ladies the next time. If you are, let us know at the parish offices.

aint Catherine’s is offering a beautiful piece of furniture once again at their annual raffle. Artisan Bob Gruber has created an elegant piece of furniture, a hand crafted cabinet. You can see it in person at Saint Catherine’s in the gathering area or even in this bulletin. Of course, being in person does it so much justice. Two hundred tickets will be sold at $25 each.  The parish is fortunate with this very generous donation. Proceeds continue to support the parish.

This prize would be a wonderful addition to any home or a lovely gift (wedding, house warming, etc.) for someone very special!  I am very grateful to Bob for this generous donation!   Good luck to all participating!

I’ll be praying for you while away and ask for yours that the Boston Marathon goes well and safely.

With Easter Joy,

Fr. Rob
