Lord, how good it is for us to be here -- Matthew 17

Dear Friends,

Summer days have its blessings!  There are two blessings I would like to share with you.

Jody Beckett and Allison DiMarco shared with us two weeks ago they are taking on the leadership of the Bright Red Bookshelf Ministry. This ministry provides gently used children’s books to children in Monroe County. Volunteers clean, sort and label books to restock shelves in various locations. The books are free for the keeping to the children.

Well, the response has been wonderful with the books already donated at both parishes! The RED collection containers have been overflowing. Thank you one and all for your donations.  Jody and Allison asked me to share their emails with you if you can volunteer some time with them or have any questions.  Jody’s email is jodybeckett@frontier.com and Allison’s is allisonandrichdimarco@gmail.com

The other summer blessing is seeing all the garden produce parishioners are sharing. The produce is placed on the green covered cart outside Saint Catherine’s. Each weekend there are wonderful selections to choose from and take home to your table.

When available, Jennifer Yates brings delicious corn on the cob. The corn comes from her parents (Linda and Dudley French) farm in Chemung, NY.  They grow the sweet corn in various plantings so it doesn’t all have to be picked at once.  Last year they donated 12,000 pounds of sweet corn to the Southern Tier Food Bank. Their generosity extends to neighbors, their church family, a senior living facility and to those fortunate to stop by on a weekend at Saint Catherine’s.

Each week you never know what might be donated but it’s always appreciated by those receiving. A big thank you to all share their bounty.

God’s blessings reach out in so many grace filled ways! Gently used children’s books and sharing produce from our gardens are just two examples of the goodness before us!

I know you have been keeping Deacon Kevin Carges in your prayers. He certainly appreciates them.  This past week he had surgery.  May we continue to support him with our thoughts and prayers. If you would like to send him a card, his address is: 8 Hunters Ridge, Ionia, NY 14475

May you have a wonderful week ahead!

Blessings to all,

Father Rob
