Lord, how good it is for us to be here -- Matthew 17

Dear Friends,

One line from last weekend’s Gospel says, “and ask and you will receive.”

Well, I hopefully did well preaching about this text,  but I’m going to use this line in a way I believe we can all identify with today.

Ask and you will receive!

Both Saint Catherine of Siena and the Church of the Transfiguration put out before our community so many “askings.” I am amazed and humbled by the responses received for everything.

Just recently with the fabulous Vacation Bible School we enjoyed, our beloved responded to the asking for toilet paper, summer clothes for the Sisters of Saint Joseph and for Matthew’s Closet.  Abundance was received and we offer abundant gratitude to all who made donations.

In the midst of this “asking” there was also a R Community Bikes collection at Saint Catherine’s. This is a Rochester-based organization that repairs and distributes bicycles free of charge to Rochester’s needy adults and children. Its mission is to meet the basic transportation needs of those in the community who depend on bikes to get to work, school, training sessions and for recreation. Think about how we enjoy and use our bikes and how these sisters and brothers  of ours depend on a bike.

WOW!

As my friend Clare would say, “Aren’t we blessed?”

I want to thank everyone who donated to VBS, the BIKE DROP and all the other wonderful invitations to be good stewards that our two parishes ask us to consider.

Where did July go? Enjoy these summer days!

On a more serious note, our good friend Deacon Kevin Carges continues to battle cancer. In addition to prayers, you can encourage his recovery by sending him a card at 8 Hunters Ridge, Ionia NY 14475.

Blessings,

Father Rob
