Dear Friends,

In the freshness of the New Year it is always enjoyable to have something to look forward to doing.  Living where we do, winter offers so much with sledding, ice skating, skiing, and snowboarding.  We have great parks all around, one being a favorite of many, Mendon Ponds.

Indoor activities are abundant as well. There’s indoor golf, pickleball, a variety of sports, being present at Buffalo Bills games or watching from the warmth of home.

We live in a wonderful community where art is abundant. There’s the Memorial Art Gallery, the Planetarium, the Rochester Science Museum, Strong Museum of Play, Eastman Theater, Rochester Broadway Theater League, Geva, Blackfriars, OFC Creations Theater, The Little Theater and other movie theaters. Then our area Universities, Colleges, High Schools and Middle Schools often offer many opportunities for great theater and music.

Speaking of music, our two parishes have phenomenal artists who are vocalists and musicians! I hear continuously from many individuals how much they enjoy the choirs we have at our masses and other liturgies throughout the year. So many dedicated folks of all ages come together to give of their time and talent. We are blessed.

Last fall, there was the return of “Figgy’s” where music led by Sue Wallace brought together our parishioners and beyond for an evening of great song, music and delicious food.

Beginning the end of this month, another great artistic offering is the annual “Msgr. Schnacky Players” production of “Give My Regards to Broadway”! The production is cast by parishioners and guests who bring together a family friendly show of music, song, dance and a lot of slapstick humor!  The Players have been doing this theater for decades.

As we supported our “Figgy’s” in the fall, let’s support the Schnacky Production coming very soon.  Details are in this bulletin. To get tickets, visit mscptheater.org or you can call Brenda Piazza at 585-257-8809.  Some of us on the Staff have our tickets and I am looking forward to attending. I hope to see you there.

And by the way, did I tell you about the tradition that there is always a villain(s) in the show? Throwing popcorn at the villain(s) at the end of the production is encouraged!

So, as we move on into winter, there is a lot we can enjoy and some of that pleasure is right here in our parishes.

Keep warm and blessed,

Father Rob
