Lord, how good it is for us to be here -- Matthew 17

Dear Friends,

The prayer life of both Saint Catherine of Siena and the Church of the Transfiguration is rich and inspiring to me.  Daily masses  have an honor all to themselves as they respect and reflect the tradition our Eucharistic liturgies celebrate.

Our weekend liturgies also celebrate the mysteries of our faith and draw us together as One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic, both on Mendon-Ionia Road and West Bloomfield Road.

One of the many moments of prayer I appreciate is the tradition at each of our parishes when we pray together the Prayers of the Faithful/Petitions.

Each week, the parishioners of Saint Catherine of Siena pray and remember the members who are in the military. Last weekend I was honored to have two of our parishioners back home and at Mass. These two gentlemen are delightful, faithful and dedicated young men of service to our country.  I have been privileged to know them since they were, well, can I recall, young guys.  Nolan and Aiden have been wonderful, prayerful, and great disciples of Jesus!

They, along with all of our parishioners in the military and their families, are held in our prayer and support.  I know we keep these women and men in our prayers.  Let us not forget the great service they all provide in keeping before you and me for the blessings of freedom!

So, I shared last weekend in my “JOY”, that I had a blessed reunion with a RIT College friend of mine!  As I shared, since I paid my way through college I could not afford to live on campus.  But, I was blessed that all my ‘best friends-to-be’ did!  I had an almost “on-campus” experience because of my two best friends to this day, Cindy Fischer Middleton and Judy Daddieco! They both included me in so much that let me part of  a campus experience.  Fortunately my friend Judy, who lives in California ( originally from Grand Island) was here for a family reunion.  Memories, great recollections and dreams, (at least to this soul), are great gifts from the Lord!

I will continue to build upon thanksgivings for our young people , like Nolan and Aiden.  I will rejoice in the blessings of the past with my dear friends Cindy and Judy.  And, I will rejoice in thoughts of each of you!!!

Thank you for sharing faith with me!

Love and blessings,

Father Rob
