Lord, how good it is for us to be here -- Matthew 17

Dear Friends,

I hope you have had a blessed week.

Last weekend, I shared from our sacred texts the importance of taking care of ourselves and heeding Jesus’s invitation to “come away”.  Whether we are actively in pastoral ministry, or a spouse, parent or a caregiver, or fully employed in some occupation, whatever, we all need a time, whether an hour, a day or days, to restore our body, mind and souls.  Let’s all find where the Lord may lead us to this necessary grace. Summer may just be a perfect time to have our own “come away” moment!

Next weekend, Sister Anila Christy, DM will be our guest speaking on behalf of the Society of the Propagation of the Faith.  Sister Anila is a member of the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary stationed in Bowie, Maryland.  Each year, our Diocese of Rochester, embraces the statues of the Pontifical Mission Societies, joining other dioceses and parish communities to welcome missionaries and reflect on the Mission Church.  Sister Anila will share her story and experiences with us at all our Masses. This mission-aid program will give us the opportunity to be connected to our universal Church. Her presence makes it possible for us to see and hear the real- life mission of the church in foreign lands.

If you are able to support the Society for the Propagation of the Faith with a donation, please make any checks payable to either Saint Catherine of Siena or the Church of the Transfiguration. Mark the memo section with “MISSION” so that your contribution is directed to the proper collection.

Let’s pray for Sister Anila and all missionaries who bring the Good News of Jesus throughout our world.

Blessings to all,

Father Rob
