Lord, how good it is for us to be here -- Matthew 17

Dear Friends,

I don’t know if you picked up A Little White Book in church on Easter?  On the sharing for the Tuesday, of the First Week of Easter was a reflection written before Pope Francis died.

I would like to share with everyone the message in the Little White Book.

“Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’ is a call to action for Catholics and people of goodwill around the world.

In his letter, Pope Francis asks us to reflect on our relationship with the environment. He calls us to see the earth not just as a resource to use, but as a common home to care for. He challenges us to adopt an “integral ecology”, where the well-being of the planet and the dignity of the poor are intertwined.

Pope Francis also emphasizes that concern about the environment is not just a scientific or political issue-it’s a moral one. He invites us to listen to both the “cry of the earth” and the “cry of the poor”, and calls on each one of us to take personal and collective responsibility for responding to both.

Our Faith teaches us that creation is a gift, and we are to steward it well. We have an obligation to leave our world in the best condition for future generations.

The Pope’s hopeful message reminds us that we are called to make a difference.”  This reflection was shared on the anniversary 55 years ago of the first Earth Day.

As we mourn the loss of Pope Francis and celebrate his eternity with the Risen Lord, Jesus Christ, we have entrusted to us Pope Francis’ modeling of Jesus Himself.

We are to love all peoples, particularly the poor and vulnerable and to be good stewards of what has been given to each of us.   During these ongoing days of Easter may we embrace our Risen Brother, Jesus, and follow the wisdom and  discipleship Pope Francis has bequeathed us.

Eternal rest grant unto Pope Francis and may perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in peace.

Blessings to all,

Father Rob
