Lord, how good it is for us to be here -- Matthew 17

Dear Friends,
May brings us together to celebrate the life and love of the Lord. This wonderful gift we have all received blesses us in so many ways.
First of all, I think of our Blessed Mother. May has been a month where many pray different devotions in honor of Mary. Some of us celebrate at home with a special shrine. I remember as a child bringing flowers with other classmates from our parents' gardens to place around her statue. Homes and churches often put a beautiful crown on her head. May we each take time to pray with the Blessed Mother and be guided by her love to follow her Son more closely in our lives.
This Sunday we also think of our own mothers as this day is put aside to honor them. We each have different experiences of having a mom, being a mom, wanting to be a mom and sometimes stepping up to be a “mom” for someone. At the end of our masses I will ask you to join me in offering a special blessing.
My mother was born in this month, May 4th and went home to the Lord twenty two years ago this coming July. I will think of her lovingly and rejoice that she is at home with the Lord in eternity.
May brings us together to celebrate the Sacraments of First Communion & Confirmation. We have such wonderful young people in our faith communities. May we rejoice with them as they receive their First Holy Communion & are Confirmed. Let us hold them in prayer & all who support them in this very special time in their lives.
May brought back two beloved people to Saint Catherine’s this past week! Camela and Jamie Fishgold were former Parish Staff members who moved to Arizona to be closer to family. This week they returned so to celebrate Jamie’s graduation from Saint Bernard’s. We were so glad to have them with us and to celebrate this momentous graduation! Both Camela and Jamie continue their vocations in parish ministry.
May also can tease us with the desire for Spring to come into full swing. With that comes the cleaning up of our parish campuses. I am very grateful to Diane Daily, Roger and Nancy DeBurgomaster, Bob and Kathy Goldbach, Bill Hulbert, Charlene and Jim Merrill, John Mitchell, Mike Moszkowicz and Scott Tubbs who worked so hard on Saint Catherine’s campus last Saturday.
I thank them along with Terry Finegan and Armand Fenicchia who are so attentive to our campus at Transfiguration. God bless your green thumbs and dedication to caring for our grounds.
I hope many of you have signed up to participate in our new Parish Directory! It will be extra special as both parishes share a book individually highlighting two separate parishes. Please see the bulletin for details and sign up if you haven’t already. I’ve signed up myself and I’m getting ready to host some wonderful people who are signed up for a dinner prize!
God Bless all our mothers!
God bless everyone and may we continue to pray for one another and the people of Ukraine.
With faith and love,
Father Rob
