Dear Friends,
This weekend we mark the close of our liturgical year celebrating Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe! A new liturgical year begins next weekend with our First Sunday of Advent!
Before we jump too far into the freshness and beauty of Advent, let us pause and take stock of this past year of our Christian living. Where did we encounter Christ? When did we act as Christ for another? In what ways did we succeed in answering the Christian call? In what ways did we fall short in answering the Christian call?
May we revisit today and during the coming week the readings for this weekend. Let us recall our own baptism where we were anointed to share Jesus’s office as king. In review, how have we been doing this past year in relationship with Jesus and one another?
Thursday, November 28th, is Thanksgiving Day. I know many may be making plans to travel and be with beloved family and friends. May your travels be blessed and happy. For those of us who will be in town, I would love to invite you to join me on Thanksgiving morning at 10 AM for mass. This year it will take place at Saint Catherine of Siena.
May we come together to rejoice in the many blessings we have been given by the Lord! May we come together as two blessed faith communities! And, if you family and friends coming in town for the holiday, do invite them to join us for mass.
If you would like, bring something you will be enjoying at your Thanksgiving table and we will bless these breads, baked goods or what ever morsels you wish to bring after communion.
Please know each of you will be in my personal prayer of thanksgiving!
With God’s love and blessing,
Father Rob
