Lord, how good it is for us to be here -- Matthew 17

Dear Friends,

I was blessed to have some days off to enjoy friends in New England.  Being away over the Labor Day holiday allows me to hold onto summer.  The season may be slipping away like our extended daylight but summer doesn’t officially end unto the equinox in a couple of weeks.  I cherish the time.

While away, I was able to connect with a parishioner who is beginning his freshman year at Emmanuel College in Boston. A friend and I joined Alex Knapp and his mother, Kara, for a Swan Boat ride in the Boston Commons and lunch.  It was wonderful to see this college guy as he begins a new chapter in his life.

I think of and pray for all our college/university/military young people who are off making good on their gift of life!  How fortunate we are in our faith communities to see so many gifted young people!  God bless them all and let’s keep them close in our daily prayers!

Last Saturday morning I was privileged to join our men who were heading off to Booneville Kentucky for the Men’s Retreat!  Gathering early, 6 AM, these gentlemen and some others who came to cheer them on gathered for packing up cars and prayer.  You and I are blessed to see these disciples go forth as missionaries sharing their gifts with our sisters and brothers.

Not everyone is taken care of in our world as good as ourselves. It is a joy for my heart and spirit to witness the great love and passion of these individuals who share greatly of their time, talent and treasure. I am in awe of them and everyone over these past decades who has given of themselves so generously.  I look forward to their safe return and hearing their experiences.  May we remember these men in our prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving!

September has much activity beginning, starting again and asking all of us for our attention.  I am so grateful for all who are engaged in our parish ministries, activities, support and prayer life for making Saint Catherine of Siena and the Church of the Transfiguration sacred places living the Gospel of Jesus Christ!  Please know, we, your Parish Staff and myself, lift you up in our prayer.

Thank you one and all for everything you do for our two parishes and church world! Let’s continue to be “One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic” for all our sisters and brothers!

Blessings,

Father Rob
