Fr. Rob returned this week from his much needed rest. In place of his column, we have our Communications Survey results from our June survey.
Communications Survey Results
We were delighted that 79 people took the time to respond to our survey on communications at our parishes. We had roughly the same number of responses from each parish, so both were well represented.
As we have been moving more and more to joint communications, we wanted a sense of how often people attend their non-primary parish. A total of 6 said ‘most of the time’, 14 said ‘a couple of times a month’ and 50 said ‘a few times a year’. That’s a pretty sizeable amount of crossover!
There weren’t a lot of surprises on the ‘How do you get your parish news’ question; you can see the results below. In addition, we asked if there was interest in new technology – Text Messaging, a Phone App and Text-to-Give capability. The only one of the three with any traction was Text Messaging, with 25% of the people being very interested, and another 25% mildly interested. Thank you for this feedback, it clearly tells us where to concentrate our resources and efforts.
Most valuable to us were the comments, we are grateful for your honest remarks. Some of the things requested were: bigger bulletin font and more text based articles (graphic articles sometimes have too small font), more faith based articles, regularly updated information on parish finances, parish council meeting minutes, shorter pulpit announcements and more information on ministry projects. We hear you, and are working those changes in! You may have already noticed more faith based articles and bigger font/fewer graphics in the bulletin. Many of you asked us to keep streaming services, there is no plan to discontinue at this time.
Some things we cannot change, but we are glad to know they are on your mind. We cannot yet bring back the most precious blood of Jesus at Communion, this is a Diocesan rule right now. The communications team does not set Mass times, that is a Parish Council and priest availability issue. And we do publish ministry information given to us from either parish – but we are counting on the ministry leaders to supply it via our communications process! So keep those articles and photos coming!
