Hello wonderful friends,
There are so many wonderful things going on at the parishes of St. Catherine and Transfiguration. Faith Formation and Youth Ministry has kicked off the formation year, Sacrament Prep has begun and our Adult Ed sessions with 19th Annotation, Just Faith, Bible Study, Dr. Joe Kelly, Sr. Barbara Moore & the Eucharistic Revival Series talks by our good friends at the Department of Evangelization & Catechesis are underway. The parish staffs are truly blessed that we are able to offer so many wonderful and exciting faith opportunities to everyone!
I would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to all of our amazing parishioners who responded to our call for teachers, subs, small group leaders, and event hosts. Without your help, the Faith Formation & Youth Ministry & Adult Formation programs wouldn’t be as successful as they are!
Anne, Vicky and I are starting to record our newest YouTube videos and Podcasts later this week! A new series with a new name! “Not Your Typical Church Ladies: Faith Conversations for Your Real Life. ” We will be discussing a little of everything and how our weekend readings relate to single or married life, young or old, and parents of children of all ages. We love being able to provide for you a less-than 10 minute faith nugget to start your week or end it! So be on the lookout for our promo video and links.
Fall is my favorite time of year... not only because of the weather, (or my birthday), but because it is the beginning to wonderful festivities and if you know Vicky and me... we always love the times we can be kids at heart! On the weekend Masses of Oct. 29 & 30th you are invited to take part in the festivities too!
At Transfiguration... everyone is invited to wear orange or dress up for Mass as we start the spookiest time of the year. But don't worry, our celebration is No Tricks... Just Treats! Halloween has a rich history, much of it religious, we will be taking this opportunity to combine fun and learning about values for our children.
At St. Catherine... everyone is invited to dress up as well, but particularly on Sunday after the 10:45 Mass there will be a Family Faith Festival celebrating All Saints Day as well as a Saintly Treat Walk... Read about specific saints along the way and take, or eat right away, a tasty treat that represents that saint! For example, we all know St. Francis is the Patron Saint of Animals so we will be having ANIMAL COOKIES!!! There is no cost, but it would help to have an idea of how many people will be attending! Please email me, Karen at karen.luke@dor.org to let me know!
Although I wrote this article a week before, I’d like to thank everyone who financially supported me for A NIGHT WITHOUT A BED. I will be sleeping in my car to raise awareness of homelessness in the Greater Rochester area thanks to Family Promise.
No matter who we are or where we are on our faith journey, life is hard. We try our best and the staffs at St. Catherine and Transfiguration will continue to walk with you on your journey with open arms!
“I think this is truly the most wonderful experience we can have: to belong to a people walking, journeying through history together with our Lord, who walks among us! We are not alone; we do not walk alone. We are part of the one flock of Christ that walks together.”--Pope Francis

Peace & Blessings to all,
